THE COMPANY
Longtime friends and artistic collaborators Laura Frenzer and Rohana Kenin founded Uncommon Wombat Productions, LLC in 2015 to develop and produce stories that explore the lives of women in funny, surprising, or absurd ways, while always remaining grounded in reality. The short film The Hope Chest Has A Secret Drawer, currently in pre-production, will begin shooting in early November 2021. As founder and a board member, respectively, of PLG Arts they produced six seasons of critically-acclaimed Shakespeare performances in Brooklyn's Prospect Park, well-attended music events, and art fairs and group art shows. For this work, they were recognized by both former Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and current Borough President Eric Adams for cultural contributions to the community. Uncommon Wombat's first production, the critically-acclaimed, award-winning web series 47 Secrets to A Younger You, followed the lives of two working moms in Brooklyn trying to survive everyday disasters while middle-aging not so gracefully. It was an Indiewire pick, and won both Best Dramedy at the NYC Webfest and Best Web Series at the Katra Film Festival in 2016.
